Author of: "What Do I Wear to the Execution?"
It’s nice to meet you
Thank you for visiting! I have unique experiences in government and partnership corrections. I served as Warden of seven correctional facilities, as well as commissioner overseeing private prisons and Deputy Secretary of Florida, the third largest correctional system in the United States. I served on the administrative faculty of Florida State University College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. These experiences position me with both practical and academic knowledge of the crimianl justice system. I am so proud of my new book "What Do I Wear to the Execution?".
Two words best illustrate the culture of corrections: resilient and stubborn.

"If you've never been inside a prison, jail, or detention center, Laura Bedard makes you feel like you are. This is a 'must read' book. "
Mrs. H, Former prison nurse, New Mexico
Through an interesting and original story, Dr. Bedard provides a unique look into what it’s like to work in corrections. Although this a work of fiction, the years of experience working in prisons and jails around the country are clearly evident. I’d recommend this to people looking for a better understanding of what it’s like to work in correctional administration or anyone looking for a good story about working in prisons!
Thomas Baker, Ph.D.
Ostensibly a novel, the book reveals one woman's life and journey as she rises to warden of a federal max security prison. It was an intriguing look into prison from a mangement and philosophy perspective that will be insightful to most who have no personal expereince with such insitutions. Highly recommend!
